Wow! Look what I received within the hour!

“Thank you for that e-mail Sondra. That is beyond disturbing. The drug epidemic is extending further and further into the point where the government is just starting to accept instead of dealing with it properly. These people need help, and I am hoping the provinces new initiative to get them help is going to actually make a positive change. I hope the authorities were able to get there and help you and the individuals in the store. Feel free to keep me updated on any other things you see around the city that needs attention. And as well as any solutions you might think of that we can implement. I agree with you on core services being funded before anything else, and I intend to continue fighting for that. “Today (Saturday, July 25) I was running errands in a respectable SW community. I went to pick up some things at the Canadian Tire store on Richmond Road. The store was filled with people, dogs, and young children. As I rounded the corner to go down one of the aisles, I saw...

A bent-over, drug addled, zombie lighting his drug paraphenalia!

I immediately let a couple of nearby male staff know and they responded to the situation right away.

Here's the thing...none of us - not me, the staff, other shoppers, children - should have to deal with this kind of situation!! Not in a store, not in a park, not in a playground, not on transit, not walking downtown!

What if it was a store where there were only female staff?
What if he accidentally set fire to the store?
What if, God forbid, one of the children touched something that had residue of fentanyl?
We shouldn't even be exposed to any fumes of whatever he was using!

There must be zero tolerance and absolutely no drug addicts or mentally ill people on the street left to their own devices. NONE! Get these poor souls into rehab and mental institutions NOW and everyone wins - including the poor souls who are in dire straits. You have plenty of tax dollars and a willing provincial government to help get the job done. This is DOABLE and it doesn't have to take years! What are you waiting for? Have some compassion! It is absolutely way past time and you have no excuse!

Yes, I'm upset. I thank God that I went down that aisle and it wasn't a child that met up with him instead. It may have ended ok today but what about the next time? Does an innocent child have to be traumatized or someone hurt before you will make this issue a priority and take action? Is that the legacy you want?

So, thank you so much for using our tax dollars for questionable "artwork" on buses (a want) instead of creating a safe and clean city for residents (a need).
