âThe Liberal Party of Canada hosted its French-language debate on Monday evening, and letâs just say, things didnât go very well for Liberal front-runner Mark Carney.
Despite being the heavy favourite to win the leadership selection on March 9th, it became clear early on that his command of the French language was the weakest of the candidates.
Jean Philippe Fournier, a former advisor to QuĂ©becâs Minister of Finance, told me it was âan absolute disgrace.â
âCarney was surprisingly bad at French and oftentimes seemed visibly confused or unable to answer basic questions,â he said.
âHe might not survive a real debate against Pierre Poilievre.â
Fournier posted on X that Carney was âclearly confusedâ and needed the moderator to repeat instructions in English.
