I did not think the referendum had much of a chance given the government and media stance against it. Now I am waiting to see how many people blame this on boomers again. Boomers elected the Liberals! Now looks like 70% of Alberta’s population are boomers, am I right? There are now people calling for investigation into Alberta separatists and the foreign money and foreign influence in Canadian politics, all pointing south at the US. (While CSIS is warning the CCP is doing the very same). The MSM is painting this as a sign the separatists and dissafected were only really a sub 10% of the population. Marching orders from Carney, no doubt, who will use the Alberta referendum as a “clear mandate” for whatever bullshit he wants to push next. There will be elbows up in Alberta politics, that’s for sure.
really was no universal culture or feeling of “nationhood”. Quebec is no more special than Alberta except that it has all the French traits of living off the efforts of others and being arrogant while doing so.
