I’ve met a lot of Albertans, mostly from Edmonton and Calgary. They are more communist than the Russians I met in Russia. Good luck Alberta, but I think we may have to rely on something else.

If Alberta successfully escapes the clutches of Canada, it will provide a ready destination for businesses that are actively working to escape the more socialist provinces. See also California, Illinois, New York and Washington.

People are not paying attention. The stay in Canada side is professionally managed, media supported,and well funded. As a result, it looks like an 80:20 vote to stay in Canada – the result of which, because an abuser who gets away with it always increases the abuse, will inevitably be a real referendum, and ultimately the break up of Canada.
The right answer is for someone with media access and political clout to campaign for people to vote Yes, on both parts of the referendum. One of the stupidities here is that the two parts are not mutually exclusive, so voting yes on staying in Canada and yes, on setting a framework for leaving captures the reality of what most voters want while knocking Ottawa back on its heels.
