https://cnm5000.substack.com/p/question-10-is-the-only-vote-that?
“Albertans have tried reform from within. We have elected Senate nominees five times. We supported Meech Lake-era decentralisation. Charlottetown tried again and was rejected nationally. In 2021, 61.7% of Albertans voted to remove equalisation from the Constitution. It was completely ignored. Five years later, Section 36(2) remains exactly where it was because Alberta cannot change Canada’s Constitution on its own.
So what are Questions 6 through 9 really asking us to do? They are asking us to ask, yet again. Ask Ottawa to surrender its power to appoint judges. Ask every province to abolish the Senate. Ask Ottawa to hand Alberta federal money without federal conditions. Ask the rest of Canada to reverse federal dominance and voluntarily surrender power to the provinces.
Think about that. What are our chances?
We can vote Yes to all nine. I would and I will. But a referendum mandate in Alberta does not manufacture constitutional consent in Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, Atlantic Canada or Parliament. This entire exercise should be considered nothing more than a pressure-relief valve for the UCP, to be used against the swelling separatist ranks within the party.
Question 10 is different.
Vote Yes on the first nine questions if you support them. But understand what most of them are: requests. Question 10 is the only ballot that begins changing who ultimately makes the decisions. We have spent decades calling for Senate reform, constitutional reform, equalisation reform, greater provincial autonomy, and less federal interference.
Without any measurable success.
The real fantasy is believing that Ottawa and nine other provinces are suddenly going to rewrite Confederation because Alberta asked more forcefully this time.
Enough asking. On October 19, vote Option 2 on Question 10.”

I know property tax is theft and I know that it’s a conflict of interest that the same dept assessing the value of my house is the same one taxing it…but I never thought about the unrealised aspect of property tax. This post says it all!!
