I learned a thing today. My home PC was too old to "upgrade" to Windows 11, but I bought a new laptop last year and it came with Windows 11 with all its many "upgrades". One thing that bugged me was the constant urging to save everything to OneDrive (aka the cloud). Luddite that I am, I resisted, and (smugly) thought that when I saved documents or pix that they were being stored locally. Not so fast Kemosabe.
A simple test showed me where they were actually being stored. If you care, here's a very simple test to check:
1. Open any existing document in Word
2. Click on "Insert"
3. Click on "Footer"
4. Choose "Blank" (first and simplest option)
5. On the task ribbon on the top, Click on "Document Info"
6. Choose "File Path"
If your Footer reads something like: C:\Users\roy\Documents\Architect.docx, then it's not being stored in the cloud.
If it starts with something else, like https:\d\ then it IS in the cloud.
