My grade 10 English teacher was not wrong... He read a short story to us about The 1884 Mignonette Case. The most famous historical precedent for cannibalism at sea, often cited in law and literature (including Life of Pi). The discussion that followed changed to include euthanasia. He concluded with this statement: "By the time you are senior citizens, I believe this will no longer be fiction, but fact." Wow. This was the first time I heard of euthanasia so the story and the conversation that followed have remained with me to this day.

Good news and bad news really. At the 21 min 30ish mark, a good point is made that might be helpful info for Albertans on the fence to feel more comfortable to vote for independence.. He mentioned that if we were to win a referendum for independence, that means the government has to negotiate in good faith. In the end, it could mean that we separate and it also could mean that Canada could offer a better deal for AB to stay in Canada and we could take that. The bad news I foresee from his statement- the referendum in the end will just be the beginning of long term negotiations that could just stall independence even more than it is now. Either way I am thinking a referendum win for independence is our only hope for change rn. And if this is true, anyone who knows this and won't vote for independence is frozen in fear and not looking out for future generations. (in my opinion)
