Instructors watched cultural blocs clash constantly. Older permanent residents arrived expecting a “technical college,” not military discipline. Many couldn’t read training materials without help. Fitness levels cratered. Language barriers crippled communication.
This wasn’t one bad platoon. It’s the direct result of rushed policy changes: scrapping the aptitude test, gutting medical standards, and fast-tracking non-citizens with zero security screening. Basic training success rates have plunged from a steady 83-87% to 77%. Failure rates are skyrocketing. Instructors are overwhelmed and furious.
Some training officers are now openly questioning whether non-Canadian citizens should even receive officer commissions.
This is what happens when you trade standards for numbers. Canada’s military is supposed to defend the nation – not become a fractured social experiment.

One University of Lethbridge (U of L) alumnus has reconsidered his six figure donation to the school — in light of Dr. Frances Widdowson's arrest at the university Saturday.
Kevin Gaudet, who graduated from U of L back in 1991, and was considering donating up to $150,000 to the school's athletic department, having played on the rugby team himself.
"I read about what had happened to Professor Widdowson and how she was treated — I was disgusted," stated Gaudet to the Western Standard.
"I did what I think a lot of people do, as consumers."
