This is a letter to the editor from the Edmonton journal, lays out the blunt truth of what the NDP and Nenshi could do to Alberta
This man has no business running a province after his epic failure as mayor in Calgary. Nenshi raised property taxes excessively, doubling them for some, burdening residents and businesses. His policies were responsible for turning a thriving downtown core into a ghost town with vacant office towers due to his anti-oil stance. Infrastructure was willfully neglected due to his prioritization of projects like bike lanes and public art over roads and water systems which has led to our crumbling infrastructure and his disciple Gondek perpetuated his irresponsible governance for an additional four years.
Rising crime downtown and on public transit, plus rampant drug issues due to his support for safe injection sites and defunding of police have turned a once safe downtown core into a scene from the Walking Dead. High taxes and progressive policies drove businesses away.
His combative style, media spats, and lawsuits (e.g., with developer Cal Wenzel) alienated most Calgarians. His rejected 2026 Winter Olympics bid was a costly misstep and colossal waste of taxpayer money.
Nenshi, or Spendshi as he was known here in Calgary, would be a nightmare for Alberta. Thank goodness Premier Smith is more popular than ever and we won't have to worry about how poorly a Nenshi led province would fare.
When Notley's NDP took office in May 2015, Alberta’s net debt was approximately $11.9 billion. By the time they left office in April 2019, the net debt had grown to around $85.9 billion. This represents an increase of approximately $74 billion over her four-year term.
Notley’s policies, such as a 20% corporate tax hike and the introduction of a carbon levy, exacerbated economic challenges and drove capital flight, contributing to the need for borrowing.

OK thinking more about this I have the following to submit after the stolen majority.
1. Carney always had a majority because the NDP/Bloc/Greens always propped up the liberals
2. Danielle Smith, not Carney, determines if a referendum goes forward
3. Alberta was always going to have to negotiate our exit with Carney whether he had a majority or not
4. A lot hinges on Trump winning in the midterms so🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I might have to step up my Plan B timeline. Plan B was supposed to be in case we didn't separate.
With all the bills Carney will enact, this might take away Alberta's right to have a referendum, not to mention separate. I like to think Danielle won't let that happen, but Carney seems to be gaining strength and she might not be able to prevent it.
Then there's the hope that Trump won't let that happen, but China is on Carney's side and is pretty powerful.
I've been praying lots about this and all my thoughts are being directed to fine tuning my plan, scheduling the steps, and finally pulling the trigger.
I welcome your thoughts.
