“Here are some of the major changes spelled out in Thursday’s bill:
Child access restrictions to sex images in public libraries
The new legislation builds on the province’s child access restrictions on material containing graphic depictions of sexual acts in school libraries and it extends similar limits on who can obtain such material via public libraries.
Specifically, the bill targets material with explicit visual depictions of sexual acts, while written work designed to be a resource for educational or health purposes will not be affected.
Regulations outlining the exact nature of the changes will be determined in the coming months, but the province says no material will be removed from library collections.
The act calls for physical separation of the target materials, such as behind a counter, with parental approval needed for children aged 15 and under to borrow such material.
The government would also be permitted to issue guidance and non-binding guidelines to public libraries to adhere to the policy and can also initiate reviews or respond to complaints related to public libraries, including those located in schools.”

This video breaks down why signature collection must continue through the end of April, why every additional signature matters, and what Bill 23 actually does. It also explains why Bill 23 does not stop or undermine the referendum process, and why it may strengthen confidence in the signature counting process.
The video also responds to claims about investment uncertainty, pointing instead to growing concern from Alberta energy leaders who say Ottawa’s policies are hurting development, investment, and Alberta’s long-term prosperity.
