Do we have enough signatures already… or not?
Are they trying to motivate canvassers to the million mark?
The messaging from upper leadership and also the inner circle media influencers has been consistently ascending in urgency for about 2 weeks now.
It was a huge mistake when they publicly bragged about how successful signature gathering was going and how they were going to easily get 10,000 canvassers and how they were going to easily beat the Canada Forever signature count and that SFA getting
1 million signatures was very doable with their “army of volunteers and canvassers.”
Now they want boots on the ground to do door to door canvassing and there sure as hell are not 10,000 canvassers.
They want us manning static sites, doing pop-ups, phoning and now door to door canvassing all at the same time.
APP bragged for 4 friggin years how ready and organized they were. Can’t say that I’m seeing it nor experiencing it yet.
I think canvassers are doing a great job. Static locations are in and close to most communities and the Stay Free Alberta where to sign site is easy to use if people know about the page. Pop-up signing sites are making it convenient as we can.
The group of canvassers in my area have really stepped up the past couple of weeks but we are definitely getting cancellation pushback. Our Townhall Meeting and signing event was cancelled by the Heritage Inn. Police have been sent to our publicly located popups but we still keep setting up anyway. We have another Townhall site and signing event planned for March 18th as long as the site managers don’t succumb to the cancellation pushback that’s about to come.
Having to switch from APP to SFA has also been detrimental.
There are still a lot of people that don’t know what Stay Free Alberta is or even that the Alberta Independence Referendum Petition is occurring. I have made a few hundred phone calls to nudge people on the APP “intention to sign” list. There is definite apathy towards signing the petition amongst the ones that haven’t signed yet. However I am hopeful that even if these people are lethargic in effort to sign the petition that they will show up for the actual referendum vote. I think the phone calls have been positive motivation for the unsigned ti get to our static site. I hope the calls convert to signatures. Door knocking in our area starts this weekend, it will be interesting to see what the response is.
Having to get physical addresses for rural people has also been a huge detriment and deterrent to signatures.
Some left wing beaurocat at Elections Alberta must have a huge satisfied smug grin on his face for coming up with that one. Did he conjure up this process complicating, hindering rule himself or did instructions come from inner UCP?
They know the majority of support for Independence is rural so they invented a loophole in Federalist’s favour.
The Forever Canada group didn’t need any ID for people to sign their piece of paper.
We were intentionally given winter months for our petition campaign but I also think God has intentionally blessed us with exceptionally great and mild winter weather.
… so, do we have enough signatures already or did upper leadership go into this overconfident and without a strategy to the point that now we need a Hail Mary pass?

Carney and his friends (Soros?) are up to some nasty antics. Our son is a Project Manager for a O & G company. At 5 pm he received word that Indigenous people are blocking the new pipeline. He had crossed all the t's and dotted all the i's. Maddening.
