Just listening to Unacceptable Fringe’s podcast from yesterday and a thought occurred to me. DS keeps saying “an independent Alberta within a united Canada”. I think she keeps saying this because she knows as well as most of us that a “united Canada” has never existed, for sure doesn’t exist now and will NEVER exist except in the fantasies of some people. Following that thinking, she’s acknowledging that and it’s a hint, a warning us to be prepared to move on. She can’t come right out and say this. She needs to maintain a façade that she is working with Ottawa until everything is in place to slam the door.
IMO “Canada” is a collection of 10 provinces and 3 territories that work as independent entities. Some work well together because they think alike (Saskatchewan, Yukon, Alberta) BUT some work only for their own interests (Quebec, B.C., sometimes Manitoba). There is no “Team Canada”. It is now and always has been an illusion. It’s just now becoming glaringly obvious.
Just a thought…

"Ma'am, your tank's bone dry. How long you been without heat?" "Four days." Her voice was steady, but her hands shook. "Bill's due Friday. We're waiting on my husband's paycheck." Four days. Three kids. Fifteen degrees. "Ma'am, I'm filling it now." "I can't pay until" "I'll mark it as a delivery error. Computer glitch. Nobody'll know."
She started crying. "Why would you do this?" "Because those kids are wearing coats inside."
I ...
