Here is the legal action being taken against Makis

Benita Petersen posted this on FB

The entity that has initiated legal action against Dr. William Makis is the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Alberta.

In the legal documentation pictured below, the CPSA expresses opposition to Dr. William Makis using the title of "Dr." and also expresses opposition to him providing health services and/or prescribing anything.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons in Alberta, or CPSA, is governed by a council that includes physicians, public members, and representatives from Alberta’s medical schools. Funding is provided mainly through physician fees, although special projects may receive funding through various grant programs.

Who sits on CPSA Council?

A combination of physicians, Albertans and learners all bring their unique experiences and perspectives to CPSA Council. Members of CPSA council include:

  • Physician members, elected by their medical colleagues
  • Public members, appointed by Alberta’s Lieutenant-Governor in Council
  • Medical school Deans from the University of Alberta and the University of Calgary
  • Medical students and residents (non-voting observers)

The council currently includes the following individuals:
ELECTED PHYSICIAN MEMBERS

  • Dr. Richard Buckley
  • Dr. Nicole Cardinal
  • Dr. Daisy Fung
  • Dr. Maryana Kravtsenyuk
  • Dr. Oluseyi Oladele
  • Dr. Ian Walker
  • Dr. Nahla Gomaa
    PUBLIC MEMBERS
  • Patrick Etokudo
  • Laurie Steinbach
  • Pan Zhang
  • Honourable Rob Merrifield P.C.
  • Rhonda Laboucan
  • Garnet Clark
  • Logan Day
    UNIVERSITY REPRESENTATIVES AND OBSERVERS
  • Dr. Todd Anderson
  • Dr. Brenda Hemmelgarn
  • Dr. Poshinka Dingra
  • Jenna Salem

The CPSA has meetings coming up on September 18 and 19 and on December 4 and 5.

One way to connect with the council chair is via email:

If you are interested in inquiring as to why the council of the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Alberta has initiated legal action against Dr. William Makis, I suggest messaging each member of the board directly via the website (link below). I do not suggest expressing hostility in your messaging; I suspect you will get better results if you merely come across as inquisitive. Be sure to be polite and professional in the tone of your inquiry. That is how you will get the best results.

  • Special note:

Premier Danielle Smith does not control the CPSA council. The CPSA council operates independently. It is unreasonable for Dr. William Makis to blame Premier Danielle Smith for the legal action that was initiated by CPSA.

I am hoping some heads roll with this dumbass move when DS gets back to Alberta.
“Albertans expect and deserve transparency from their government and Premier Danielle Smith knows that very well.

A bizarre story erupted on Monday morning with the CBC reporting that the Alberta government had made an inexplicably dumb move and stopped proactively disclosing receipts for the expenses of government officials.

The change meant that itemized receipts were no longer required to be posted online for all taxpayers to see.

If the government is spending your money to rent a car, an itemized receipt tells you if it’s on a Corvette or a Corolla.

After the change, if any taxpayer wanted to know that information, they would need to go through the freedom of information system and pay a fee to try and wrench the receipt out of the government, likely waiting months for the data.

I know, this is a weird one, so stay with me.

The federal government’s so-called “Emissions Reduction Plan” - including its oil and gas emissions cap - will devastate Alberta’s economy.

We knew it all along.

But thanks to a freedom of information request obtained by The Hub, we now have proof - from the Alberta government’s own commissioned research - showing just how bad it will be.

The Conference Board of Canada was hired in 2023 to assess the economic and fiscal impacts of Ottawa’s plan.

The final report, delivered to the province in January 2025, contains detailed modelling of Alberta’s economic future under these policies.

The government released the main report in March… but held back the detailed economic tables.

The Hub fought for access and, through a FOIP request, obtained part of that hidden data.

The numbers are staggering:

$941.7 billion in lost economic activity between 2030 and 2050.

Over 150,000 Alberta jobs gone by 2050.

$3,291 less disposable income per Alberta household per year by 2050.

More than $196 ...
