We were talking with friend from Australian a couple of nights ago. They had been planning a trip to North America, Canada and U.S. Apparently the U.S. is going to require visas for entry, which is ok. Australia requires a visa. However, apparently one of the requirements for the visa is they provide a DNA sample! Their reaction was the same as ours…no way in hell!

Anybody else hear of this? We’re going to check it out with our travel connections. If this is so, I suspect travel to U.S. will be quite a bit less and visitor dollars will be greatly reduced. I get wanting to vet people entering the country, but this goes far beyond rational.

It is as official as it gets. Finally.

No precise date has been set yet but it is coming.

Calgary’s drug consumption site at the inner-city Sheldon Chumir Health Centre is closing.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith broke the good news at the end of our Christmas interview.

In fact, at the end of the interview, the premier mentioned I hadn’t asked about the fate of the drug site at the Chumir.

It was on my list, at the very bottom, to be asked if time allowed.

But after years of stonewalling I was resigned to non-answer answers, more kick the can down the road responses when politicians refused to face up to the ugliness of the drug ...
