Yesterday morning I called the Principal of Crestwood Elementary School in Edmonton (1-780-452-4525) because a friend shared these 3 photos of the display in the hallway of the school. I called as a concerned citizen saying that it has come to my attention that the school has a huge Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity display in the hallway, and that this ideology is not welcomed by the public at large and in accordance with the new Government legislation being passed, parents must Opt-in to such teachings. I urged her to remove the display. She responded by saying that it would most certainly NOT be removed until the legislation is passed and questioned my “the right” for someone to take photographs in “HER” school. Below are the photographs along with my letter to the Premier, Education Minister with cc’s going to the Superintendent and the Principal.
I am writing to you today with my concerns following my conversation of today’s date with Principal Dawn of Crestwood Elementary School in Edmonton.
This past weekend an anonomous individual shared the photos below of the Sexual Orientation display in the hallway of Crestwood Elementary School. As a concerned parent/grandparent/taxpayer, I felt compelled to call Principal Dawn at the Crestwood School with my concerns. I expressed my sentiment that parents, and many of the public at large do not welcome the ideology that is being dispayed in the hallways of this school, and that with the new Government legislation coming to pass regarding parental consent, it would be imperative to have this display removed.
Principal Dawn told me, that in no uncertain terms this display would not be coming down until the Bill is passed. She asked where I got the photos from, claiming that I had no right to them, being that she did not “consent” to having photos taken in “HER” school. I responded telling her that “parents did not consent to this display being put up”. When I asked whose interests she was looking after, I was told that she did not have to defend her position and advised that she would be hanging up, which she ultimately did.
I find the position of this School Principal extremely troubling, particularly as this contentious sexual orientation agenda has been front and center for some time and it has been deemed in the best interest of the children to have parents involved with an opt-in policy, rather than a push to reach and indoctrinate all children in the hallway as they walk to their classrooms. Suggesting that the public does not have “the right” to document what is posted in the hallways of a public school verges on Orwellian.
It is also concerning that this Principal feels it is “HER” school. The school belongs to the taxpayers and as such, the parents, taxpayers and citizens at large should have a clear voice as to what goes on in the school. It is a public space and accordingly, the public should have access to it. It is particularly concerning that Principal Dawn has no issue with young children seeing this display on a daily basis, but has a problem with their parents or other concerned citizens seeing it, documenting it and offering their input. Whose interests are served when a principal attempts to prevent parents/the public from knowing what goes on behind the closed doors of a public school and documenting it?
I felt it was extremely important to bring this to your attention Madam Premier, Minister of Education, as it appears that perhaps some schools may be very reluctant to go willingly go along with the opt-in Sexual Orientation policy.
In light of this, perhaps we need to have random checks in schools to ensure that sexual ideology is kept out of the hallways of the schools, and is perhaps limited to a specific classroom and a course that parents may have their child opt into if they choose. Either that, or now that the Covid scare is over, let the parents enter the schools and walk the hallways once again to get a sense of what is being taught, just as they have since the beginning of public education.
If schools do not remove these contentious displays from the hallways, please do as promised and cut funding to these institutions.
Sincerely,
I’m Jake Fuss, the Director of Fiscal Studies at the Fraser Institute.
As we approach the end of 2024, I wanted to share some critical research that the Fraser Institute has been focused on this year.
Our work is all about bringing clarity and transparency to Canada’s economic landscape – and our latest studies have uncovered some pressing concerns that every Canadian should be aware of!
For instance, while the federal government often highlights that Canada’s debt is the lowest in the G7, the reality is quite different when you look at the full picture.
Our research shows that Canada actually ranks 26th out of 32 developed countries when total debt, rather than just net debt, is considered.
Net debt is a flawed measure of Canada’s indebtedness because it assumes the country’s financial assets can be used to offset debt. But the country’s financial assets include the Canada Pension Plan and Quebec Pension Plan – assets that cannot be used to pay off government debt.
In reality, ...
I honestly can’t remember if I’ve already posted this! C’est la vie! Merry Christmas everyone! Blessed to be part of this Freedom family!🎄🎄🎄

“National finances under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have tanked, and many residents likely don't know just how broke they are.
Canadians now pay around $75 million per day in interest on the national debt.
The net debt, which is gross debt minus financial assets, was reported at a federal level to be around $1.173 trillion in 2023, with an increase to about $1.501 trillion by March 2024.
"If Canadian families spent and borrowed like the federal government, they would be $427,759 in debt," the Fraser Institute wrote in a 2024 report. "While deficits can sometimes be justified in certain circumstances, perpetual spending-driven deficits have become the norm rather than a temporary exception for the federal government."
Canada's general government gross debt for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2022, was approximately $2.942 trillion. This includes federal, provincial, ...
