What are everyone's feelings about Alberta independence and separation? I feel a better use of peoples time would be to advocate for and inform Albertans of the benefits instead of just attacking politicians that follow an out of date handbook on unity. I want this province OUT of this country and won’t reconsider until someone tells me there are benefits to remaining.

After Trump won the 2024 election, Justin Trudeau flew down to Mar-a-Lago and suggested that Canada could not survive economically without the United States. What Trudeau likely didn’t expect was Trump’s observation that in that case, “maybe it should just become our 51st state.” He’s also stated that “without us, there’s no way they can survive.” He’s in effect seen us as a “parasite” country.
Don’t forget that Trudeau had himself said that “there is no core identity, no mainstream in Canada.” We do not even pass the most rudimentary test of a nation as those that are united by common descent, history, culture, or language.
As Scott Gilmore, a former Canadian diplomat, warned us, in an April 19, 2018 article, Canada is not a country, in Maclean’s magazine,
“And when our storm arrives, we may discover that Canada was never really a country after all.”
