This whole Lake Ontario issue only identifies and illustrates how incredibly uninformed some people are, and how so many lack critical thinking skills.
What people don't understand is that Donald Trump does this on purpose, just to expose the idiocy and hypocrisy. And those of you reacting are only proving his point.
We have changed the names of streets, schools, roads, buildings, universities, sports teams, government institutions, military bases, parks, mountains, islands, towns, and geographic landmarks.
We've changed terminology for races, ethnic groups, disabilities, occupations, Indigenous peoples, and entire communities. We've changed titles and forms of address. We're told to respect people's preferred names and pronouns, even when they differ from what they were called previously.
Remember the Queen Charlotte Islands? We changed that name to Haida Gwaii. Now they're even talking about changing the name of ...

What we don’t have is the ability to reach into the Alberta treasury and use millions of dollars contributed by every taxpayer to promote the outcome we want.
And I wouldn’t want that ability.
If I’m going to advocate for an independent Alberta, I should have to make the case for it, answer the difficult questions, defend my arguments, and persuade Albertans on the merits.
