I ordered a pair of fringed “dancer boots” from Manitobah Mukluks this morning because well firstly I love fringes and secondly, they were on sale. When I scrolled down the page I read the following statement. I had a little chuckle because the boots are made in China there really is no information on how “indigenous” the staff are. I suppose it’s OKAY to sell off your culture for profit and assure the NON-indigenous buyers that they will be fine if you make statements like this. I wonder what the “celebrating Indigenous culture in a authentic meaningful way” will be when I am stompin around through Costco in them this winter - LOL. Good grief people are twatwaffles.
“CULTURAL APPRECIATION VS. APPROPRIATION
We make our moccasins and mukluks for everyone. By purchasing from us, you are participating in cultural appreciation, not cultural appropriation. When you purchase from Manitobah, you are directly supporting Indigenous people and celebrating Indigenous culture in an authentic, meaningful way that supports us in our vision to create positive impact in Indigenous communities”.

Calgary voters have spoken - and the message was clear.
After years of frustration over high taxes, costly pet projects, and misplaced priorities, voters sent a signal that it’s time for change at City Hall.
While several close races are headed for recounts, the overall results show that Calgarians were very tired of their incumbent Councillors.
Just four incumbents are returning to City Hall, and they include two right-leaning and two centrist Councillors.
Every left-leaning member of Council either didn’t run again, or has been soundly defeated - including Jyoti Gondek, who becomes the first incumbent Mayor to lose a re-election campaign in 45 years.
In the end, she didn’t even finish second - slumping to third with just 20%.
So, who was successful and what will Council look like for the next four years?
Let’s take a look at the top two place-getters in each race:
