"The audacity so many of you have trying to speak for all as an individual is only surpassed by the chiefs! My chief had ZERO consultation with his people before getting up with the other "leaders" and denouncing the idea... ironic eh? What I don't understand is why would these "leaders" not want to at least hear a proposal as to what things could look like if they backed the movement.
We own no land, the small sections of our reserves are held in trust as if we're children not yet ready for the responsibility of ownership.
The treaties as originally signed use such racist and oppressive language... "the queens good indians"... does that sit well with you? The indian act, residential schools, genocides of the past... these were all perpetrated by the same entities and institutions that so many of you are so suddenly loyal to!
