You would never know the reason behind the celebration of Christmas if you went shopping at least in my area. I haven't been able to find a single Nativity scene either for inside or outside decoration. Children who are not taken to church are not going to be introduced to Christmas and the birth of Christ incidentally there is just no association at all in the celebration. I asked in Canadian Tire and Walmart the reason they didn't have any Nativity décor and they said "it's not a popular item so they don't carry it. Ironic isn't it? The reason for the season is not popular anymore, my thought are then WELL you don't need to bother appropriating our Christian HOLY day with your hedonistic parties now do you. Okay yeah I get that the Christians appropriated the Pagan celebration of Yule also holding their celebration around the time of the winter solstice and I suppose that was wrong but this country was founded on Judeo Christian values, teachings and celebrations and there really isn't much push back from them.
I order 2 Nativity scene yard flags and I will glue baby Jesus and the Wiseman back together to decorate with because it' needs to be clear at this household at least what we are celebrating.
Teach them the NDP Nenshi way......

The City of Calgary has come under fire after new data revealed it spends more on employee pensions than any other major Canadian city.
The data collected by SecondStreet.org and recently reported on by the Western Standard show a pension system of extremely generous retirement benefits for city workers.
According to the data, more than 2,500 city employees will collect two pensions upon retirement, while 126 belong to the so-called “triple pension club,” receiving three separate pensions — a base plan and two taxpayer-funded top-ups.
One of those top-ups, known as an “overcap pension,” is entirely funded by Calgary taxpayers.
Ward 13 Councillor Dan McLean has been pushing for answers about the overcap pension since he was sworn into office.
McLean claims the practice stretches back to former mayor Naheed Nenshi’s time in office....
