Vote Dr.Akin for South Zone Board Director

Hello.
My name is Dr. Akin Osakuade, or as my patients call me Dr Akin because they are 'Akin'' to see me. I am running for the position of Board Member of the United Conservative Party, Regional Director for Southern Alberta.

Before I continue, I would like to tell you a little more about myself. I am a local doctor working in Didsbury. I have devoted the last 8 years of my life to working and serving Southern Albertans. In the last 2 years, I have mentored over a hundred doctors working in Rural Alberta. I also started an organization with over 50 employees that provides supportive living and carers for individuals with disabilities.

My wife and I have been married for 17 years and we have 3 children and a moodle (maltese/poodle) called Percy. I believe one of life's greatest blessings is family and they keep me grounded on what is most important in life – the love they bring.

Why you might ask, am I running to be a board member of the UCP, what qualifies me for this role and what am I bringing to the table? I am running for this role because I am a doer. I believe complaining about the world does not bring change and standing up, and volunteering to make a difference does. Southern Alberta is the backbone of the party and our province, and my goal is to represent them and their views to the board. I also believe that working in unity with members of the board and executives will ensure this province's success. I want to help protect against overreach from Federal policies which undermine Alberta’s prosperity and progress.

My qualification for this role is that I work as a leader providing and coordinating healthcare, an entrepreneur and a problem solver providing care for disabled individuals. I believe in the conservative course and understand it is the best option to ensure our province remains strong and free. Fifty percent of taxes raised in Alberta is spent on healthcare. Our province has been struggling with the recruitment and retention of doctors and nurses. The problem is not that we do not have doctors in our province, it's that they do not get recognized and are working as Uber drivers and healthcare assistants. This is a sheer waste of human potential, especially when our patients are having to experience long waiting times for surgery, emergency, and clinic appointments.

What I bring to the table is 22 years of dedication, working in 3 different healthcare systems as a doctor and frontline worker with leadership experience in healthcare in Alberta. I have excellent teamwork skills, inexhaustible energy, and a passion to make a difference to improve healthcare in Alberta. I have lived and worked in Southern Alberta for many years, and I have spoken to many conservative voters and believe that I can ensure that their voices are heard. I am of Nigerian descent and our province is growing from international and interprovincial migrants. I share this journey with these new voters. They are naturally conservative in view and value education, healthcare, family, and personal freedoms. I believe I can reach out to the new Albertans to let them know there is a home for them in the conservative party.

I humbly request your support and it would be my privilege to represent you. It is unacceptable that Albertans are segregated, punished, or discriminated against for exercising their medical choice. I also feel it is unacceptable that we waste human potential by not certifying professionals who only want to contribute to the prosperity of our province. A vote for me will ensure accountability, growth for our party and a strong advocate for healthcare and entrepreneurship in Southern Alberta.
Thank you.

Dr Akin Osakuade

If you are American and you’re curious about why Trump forced Maduro out, you should read this first...

(An analysis by a Venezuelan who left Venezuela)

Because unless you are Venezuelan, you are missing almost everything that matters.

I am Venezuelan.

I left my country in 2013, when Hugo Chávez died and Nicolás Maduro took power.

I didn’t leave because I wanted to “try life abroad.”

I left because I could see what was coming, and staying meant watching my future shrink year after year.

So when Americans ask, “What do Venezuelans think about Trump forcing Maduro out of the presidency?”

Let me answer that question honestly, without slogans, without moral theater, and without pretending this is simple.

Most Venezuelans feel relief.

Not because we love Trump or because we believe the U.S. does things out of pure love for freedom.

And not because we are naïve about geopolitics, oil, or power.

We feel relief because we have lived through something Americans have never experienced: a country where nothing works, where elections don’t matter, where money stops being ...
